Chic and Cozy Coats

This Florida girl has always had a thing for winter jackets, coats, sweaters, scarves, and boots. I don’t know if it’s because I’m originally from New York or because I love the cold, but any chance I get to throw on one of my chic and cozy coats, I’m thrilled.
Needless to say, living in South Florida, I don’t get much of a chance to adorn my winter gear. Often it’s all about sleeveless. Oh sure, we get a few days in the 50s, but generally, a leather jacket or wool poncho is all you really need, of course, with boots on my tootsies!
Interesting side fact: I probably have more boots in my closet than any Florida girl you will ever meet. It’s almost scary.
So, when I had the chance to collaborate with some fabulous lifestyle and fashion bloggers from many different places, you might say I jumped at the chance to dig out some of my own chic and cozy coats! What a fun topic!
Chic and Cozy Coats for all Seasons

Pre-Covid, when hubby and I would talk about vacations, I would always champion going somewhere cold so I could wear a jacket. On the other hand, Gary (hubs) apparently doesn’t realize we already live in a tropical climate, and he always talks about traveling to other tropical climates, LOL. Think the Keys, Hawaii, the Bahamas.
Because we don’t get to visit cold climates often, I have donated most of my heaviest winter coats, but I’m taking this chance – this cozy and chic blog collaboration, to share a couple of my favorites (lighter Florida styles, too) that I still hang onto in the hopes I’ll wear them again at some point. Hint, hint, hubby!
Love Ann Taylor jackets like the one above, especially on sale! I have my eye on one or two on sale right now!
Chic and Cozy Pea Coat? Yes Please

The coat above where I am playing in Central Park’s leaves was purchased just two years ago because it was perfect for the weather in New York in November 2019. My other coats were too warm or not warm enough. Alright, fine – maybe it was just an excuse to go shopping. Still… it was the perfect coat for the weather! Mine isn’t available anymore, but the above coat on the right, from Shein, is, and it is an absolute steal for $30.00! It comes in so many gorgeous colors!
How’s This for Chic and Cozy?

This is vintage perfection, and I love it! It’s my mom’s custom-made muskrat coat, and it doesn’t get any more chic and cozy than this. Or warm! The last time I wore it, it was on a trip to Louisville for a Bar Mitzvah, and it was just as much fun wearing it with my black tie dress as it was, pairing it with jeans and boots.
Chic and Cozy Après Ski Coat

Another blast from my past, this après ski jacket was and still is one of my favorites. It’s at least 15 years old and like new. I take it to New York a few times a year and hope to again one day when Covid gets kicked to the curb. It’s been everywhere that’s freezing with me, from Canada to Maryland (that’s us in Maryland, above). Just perfect with jeans, which is my usual traveling outfit.
Winter White Chic and Cozy Coat

The above coat is a White House Black Market favorite. There’s something about winter white that I adore. Again, I don’t get to wear it much – especially since the pandemic, but it sure was fun to take it out and throw it on for this pic! There’s another cute winter white one I like that’s still available, but I’m refraining – for now! And the faux leather leggings that everyone can’t seem to get enough of are Spanx and still available – yay!
And yes, I’ve also got a few trench coats, but they’re really your basic khaki and black jackets, so I decided to save your eyes from looking at any more pics of me and to focus instead on what some of my fabulous friends are wearing. Such amazing style!
All the Chic & Cozy Coats of My Fellow Lifestyle & Fashion Blogging Friends from Around the World
Chic & Cozy Julie

Julie – Fashion Trends and Friends – Winter coats, jackets, gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves are all a must-have living in Illinois! Of course, a girl can never have too many varying colors, lengths, and styles! I might have two closets full! This long length plaid (I’m always mad for plaid!) coat was a must-have from Old Navy this year! It’s the first plaid coat in my collection! I think it pairs great with my star sweater and these navy fur-trimmed boots. Every winter, I think I might add a coat or two to my collection! After all, it is the thing everyone sees first in the winter!
Chic & Cozy Nancy

Nancy – Nancy’s Fashion Style -I always have a lot of trouble finding the perfect winter coat! This one wasn’t! On the blog post from last Friday, I am wearing the perfect one. This one has fabulous color, but that’s all it has. No pockets, no lining, no collar. It was given to me, and I really loved the color, but I passed it on!
Chic & Cozy Amy

Amy – Amy’s Creative Pursuits – As a Wisconsin Gal, we have severe winters and live in parkas all season long. I have parkas of all styles, lengths, and colors filling my closet, but for this challenge, I wanted more of a statement coat, so I chose a very old pea coat that rarely gets worn. It’s a fun, unique coat, but not that practical for my climate.
Chic & Cozy Suzanne

Suzanne – Ask Suzanne Bell – As someone who wears a lot of black and denim, a fun coat is an instant game-changer. From animal print to bright red – I like my coats to be fun. Throw some faux fur into the mix, even better. And yes, I have been known to wear a coat over my pajamas!
Chic & Cozy Nina

Nina – Sharing a Journey – I love styling coats and jackets in the winter, layering accessories, playing with shapes and colors. In today’s post, I am sharing a few thoughts on elevating your coat styling game.
Chic & Cozy Andy

Andy – Pearls and Pantsuits – I’ve had this snuggly leopard print coat from Chico’s for several years now and find myself reaching for it again and again. It’s the perfect little layer for our milder winters and for my cold office! Not to mention that anything leopard is always a good idea!
Chic & Cozy Nicole

Nicole – High Latitude Style – In Interior Alaska, winter lasts about seven months. Temperatures can be anywhere between 40 below (or less) zero to slightly above the freezing point. While around the freezing point, a loden coat works fine, a heavy down coat is a Must at 40 below. These coats make everyone look like the Michelin Men. Shearling or goat coats work fine down to -30C (~-22F).
Chic & Cozy Emma

Emma – The Style Splash – “It has turned really cold and frosty here in the UK, so I need a warm coat. This vintage cream one is perfect as it’s long and has a hood to keep the snow off my hair…yes, we’ve had snow! I found it in a charity shop for less than £10…such a fantastic bargain!”
Chic & Cozy Ada

Ada – Elegance and Mommyhood – I think coats are a closet staple if you live in the Midwest. We have had our share of cold weather and snow, as you will see from this post, today, but overall it is mild (that means in the 30s & 40s for us). Speaking of closet staples, if you don’t own a Winter White or Cream one yet, you should. I think a classic wool coat in cream will be timeless, and it can last you for several years to come. I love mine (it’s from Loft from last year and both Loft and Old Navy have almost identical ones this year). Stop by the blog today to see sweet Vivian also, in a pretty blush pink coat.
Chic & Cozy Shelbee

Shelbee – Shelbee on the Edge – I have a bit of an obsession with coats, especially since I live in a snow belt where winters are long and frigid. And I am usually drawn to dramatic statement coats, which I love to search for in thrift shops. That is where I found this Jordache white faux fur coat a few years ago, and it cost less than $10. I don’t wear it often, but when I do, I feel like a fancy polar bear!
So there you have it! Some of my fab friends in their favorite chic and cozy coats! Fun post, right?
But Wait! Where Do You Think You’re Going? I’ve Got More to Share!!

My new boutique, Shopping with Gigi! Have you had a chance to check it out? I “opened for business” this past December for the holidays, starting with a small inventory of novelty gifts for the savvy woman, and let’s say, opening it up during holiday time might not have been the best time to do so, lol. I was frantic about getting out orders in time for the holidays, and I think, luckily, I just made it – yay!!
However, In all transparency, OY! Maybe I was too ambitious! I haven’t been able to devote the time I want and need to get things moving faster, but I’ll get there. Thanks to those of you who have already visited, purchased, and shared my little endeavor with friends and family. It is so appreciated.
Thanks so much for reading this and for being here. Please feel free to share this post and my site – and boutique – with friends. Take a quick sec and email this link.
Oh, and don’t forget, if you purchase something from this post, I may earn enough to one day buy a cup of coffee (tall) from Starbucks!

January 11, 2021 at 6:14 amHi Gwen, so nice to meet you! I am so happy you have joined our fun little group. I am loving all of your coats! I live in Northern New York in a snow belt so I have a bit of a coat addiction myself! Your mom’s fur coat is absolutely stunning! I have a thing for dramatic furs as you can see from my coat choice for this prompt. This was super fun to read how you have transitioned from a New York climate to a Florida one. I couldn’t do it! I am much more a cold wether gal even though I am freezing all the time!

Having said that, I am sorry, because I do not give credence to your entire strategy, all be it refreshing none the less. It looks to me that your comments are actually not completely validated and in simple fact you are generally yourself not wholly confident of your assertion. In any case I did appreciate reading it.
