All I can say is, wow!  Met a friend (Amy) for lunch at Tim Tub Thai in Wellington, and if you haven’t been there yet, you are missing out. The Asian setting is relaxed and tranquil, and when you walk in you are greeted by a huge tank filled with exotic tropical fish – very soothing and pretty.

We started with some edamame which was delicious – just the right amount of salt, steamed perfectly. Amy ordered a small garden salad (fresh and tasty, as per Amy!) and I had the tofu soup. Best tofu soup I’ve had, hands down.

For our main dishes, Amy ordered the spicy tuna ‘sandwich,’ which is a sushi roll cut to resemble an actual mini-sandwich. The sandwich contained scallion, masago, tobiko, sesame seeds, and tempura flakes, and was drizzled with bomb sauce. (Again, fresh and delicious – as per Amy!)

I had the May roll, and MAY I say, I have not had a roll like this before. It was fabulous! The May roll included salmon, tuna, crab, white tuna, shrimp, avocado, sesame seeds, and scallion. It was wrapped in soy paper and topped with dabs of spicy mayo. And… no rice! And it was still amazing!

If you’re in the neighborhood, wander into Tub Tim Thai. You won’t be disappointed!
