When my girlfriends from The ProAge Project suggested a getaway, I couldn’t have imagined just how perfect our choice of The Omni Homestead Resort would be.
Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia, this historic property delivered everything we needed—relaxation, adventure, pampering, and most importantly, quality time together away from our daily responsibilities.
From the moment we arrived at the impressive red-brick facade with its iconic tower, I felt transported. Recently renovated yet preserving its historic charm (the resort dates back to 1766!), The Homestead strikes that perfect balance between luxury and comfort.

Days Filled With Adventure
The Hot Springs Experience
The natural hot springs are, without question, the crown jewel of the resort. Imagine slipping into those mineral-rich waters, feeling the tension in your shoulders dissolve.
The food deserves special mention. Every meal was exceptional, from hearty breakfasts to elegant dinners. The resort’s commitment to quality and presentation was evident in every dish.
A highlight was our wine tasting experience with the resort’s master sommelier, Quynh Cohen. Her knowledge was impressive, her selections impeccable, and her ability to make wine accessible rather than intimidating made for an unforgettable evening. I left feeling enlightened and eager to explore more.
Perhaps the most surprising delight was our impromptu boxing class. There we were—six midlife women, gloved up and throwing punches, feeling ready to take on the world!
No girls’ weekend would be complete without spa time. The space itself, with its soothing colors and sounds, provided a welcome contrast to our more active pursuits. There were a lot of different services to choose from, and we particularly loved the serenity garden!
If you’re contemplating your own getaway—whether with friends, family, or a romantic partner—I can’t recommend The Omni Homestead Resort enough. Here’s why:
It offers that rare combination of activity and relaxation. You can fill your days with adventures or do absolutely nothing—both are equally valid options here.
The resort honors its rich history while providing all modern comforts. There’s something grounding about staying in a place that has welcomed guests for centuries.
Most importantly, it provides the perfect backdrop for connection. Away from the distractions of everyday life, my friends and I rediscovered parts of ourselves and each other that had been buried under responsibilities and routines.
As midlife women, we often put ourselves last on the priority list. This weekend reminded me why that needs to change. The laughter, the conversations, the shared experiences—they’ve become treasured memories that sustain me through busy weeks.
