Valentine’s Day and My Best Tips When You’re In a Funk!

Roses are red, violets are blue…

Sending hugs and love to each one of you!

And I mean it! If only everybody shared lots of love and hugs- in person and virtually! Our world can certainly use more of it!

I have to admit I have been in a funk. A funk that’s even hit me physically where I feel tired a lot. I’m tired of bad news, tired of people fighting, tired of being sick for a few weeks – although I’m feeling much better, thanks amoxicillin!

What do you do when you’re in a funk?

Feeling like you’re in a funk is completely normal, and there are several things you can try to lift your spirits. Here are some suggestions:

1. Get Moving: Physical activity can boost your mood. Go for a walk, try a new workout, or dance to your favorite music. I love feeling accomplished after a walk on my Walking Pad (Use code GWENLIVESWELL for 20% off) or around the neighborhood, wearing my weighted vest.

2. Connect with Friends: Reach out to a friend for a chat or invite them for coffee. Sometimes just talking can help you feel better.

3. Practice Gratitude: Write down a few things you’re thankful for. Focusing on the positive can shift your mindset.

4. Try Something New: Engage in a new hobby or activity. It could be cooking a new recipe, starting a craft project, or learning an instrument. I’ve been going to pilates three times per week and it’s a great workout! Have you tried it? I put on my CRZY Yoga Activewear, the softest, comfiest workout wear and head to my local pilates studio!

5. Spend Time in Nature: Get outside and soak in some fresh air. Nature has a way of refreshing our minds and spirits. I’ll throw on my super comfy Limited Edition Romy Walking shoes for extra support on those long outdoor walks. It’s like walking on a cloud! (Use code Gwen20 for 20% off.)

6. Meditate or Practice Mindfulness: Take a few minutes to breathe deeply, meditate, or do some yoga. This can help clear your mind. A lot of times, I’ll meditate while laying on my Megelin Red Light Therapy Mat which helps reduce inflammation and heal your body faster! (Code Gwen10 saves 10% today only. After today, use code Gwen5).

7. Listen to Music or Podcasts: Put on your favorite tunes or find an inspiring podcast. It can be a great way to change your mood.

8. Read a Book: Escape into a good book. Reading can transport you to another world and help you relax.

9. Pamper Yourself: Treat yourself to a spa day at home. Light candles, take a bath, or enjoy your favorite skincare routine.

10. Reflect and Journal: Writing down your thoughts and feelings can provide clarity and help you process what you’re going through.

Everyone has their own way of lifting their mood, so try a few of these and see what resonates with you!

For me, I decided to focus on numbers one and two, getting up off the couch and moving, and making more plans with friends.

Although a little self-care day sounds pretty inviting as well. And as far as trying something new, I just subscribed to Audible. The first book I’m listening to is Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. It’s all about seizing back control by consciously choosing to do something positive when external forces threaten to ruin your day. I mean, who couldn’t benefit from that!?

And don’t get me wrong, I love reading books. It’s one of my favorite things in the world! But I decided, when I’m driving, or when I’m lying on my red light therapy mat, or using one of my LED therapy machines, why not listen to a good self-help book or any book for that matter!

I hope you have an incredible Valentine’s Day and that these tips are helpful whenever you find yourself in a funk!

With love,
Gwen
