On our last date night, hubs and I discovered the most incredible bistro – Amar Mediterranean Bistro, on Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach, and we are in love.

As gourmet as it gets, Amar offers healthy, flavorful, fresh dishes. Think old-world Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes reinvented with a modern spin.

The menu boasts a fabulous variety of small plates for sharing, as well as delicious main entrees (shared those too).

We savored the LABNEH (Strained yogurt, za’atar, tomatoes, cucumber and mint), the Baba Ghanouj (Charred eggplant puree, tahini, lemon), Warek Enab (Grape leaves stuffed with rice, parsley, onion, tomato) from the Cold Mezze section, and the Roasted Brussels Sprouts (Fig and wine reduction, caramelized walnuts) from the Hot Mezze offerings.

For our main entrees, we chose the Grilled Branzino and the lamb chops – a special that night they were testing for the menu. All I can say is, I’m still thinking about them – and this meal – almost a week later.

And just as exceptional as the food? The wine list! Amaaaaazing!

Creative, homemade desserts round out the meal – you must save room. We had the Kanafeh for 2 – Semolina and melted cheese tart, rosewater and orange blossom syrup, pistachios – and it was exceptional.

We chose to eat outside, but the inside is charming. Much like the food, the dining area is the perfect blend of nostalgic and modern, chic and cozy.

Hats off to delightful owners Nicolas and Susanna Kurban for bringing this gem to Delray.
