What Everyday Luxe Means to Me

This latest blog collaboration with some of my fashion-minded friends was a fun one. We chose ‘Everyday Luxe’ as a theme, and I have to say, we had a lively discussion regarding what that term meant to each of us. Sequined t-shirts? Embellished denim jackets? Color combos? We decided we would do exactly that – write about and share ‘what everyday luxe means to me’ and see what we all came up with for our posts.

Everyday Luxe? Hello Beautiful Shoes

Well, if you haven’t guessed from the above pic, everyday luxe to me means elevating my everyday look with shoes! You can take the same pair of jeans and shirt, change your shoes – and your look takes on a whole new feel. Amiright?

For me, everyday luxe is being able to reach into your closet, pick a pair of your fave shoes, and get up and go.

For Me, Everyday Luxe Means Beautiful Shoes!

I find shoes ‘reel-y’ appealing (sorry – couldn’t help myself), and they are the epitome of what everyday luxe means to me. And yes, I’m poolside, because, why not? Fab weather, great deck, and plenty of room for my shoes!

Hmmm… Pay the Mortgage, or Buy the Shoes?

Beautiful shoes make me happy. And while I do have a penchant for designer shoes, believe me, a $25 bargain pair makes me smile, too. I focused on shoes from my designer collection for this particular post, but I might have to do another featuring some of my favorite under $100 or even under $50 finds.

And yeah, there are times when I look in my closet and see all my shoes and think, wow! That’s a mortgage payment (or ten) on that shelf. Or, I could have bought a small country for what these shoes cost! What can I say? I’ll retire ten years later!

Look, for some, their passion is purses, and for others, it may be jewelry. Okay, I may have a thing for allll of those, lol, but most importantly, my passion is comfortable, beautiful shoes, especially since several foot surgeries (damn Cross Fit) left my feet very picky.

If the Shoe Fits, Buy It.

And that brings me to my latest pair of new shoes, and how I came to love Sarah Flint.

I’m not going to tell you Sarah Flint shoes aren’t expensive (although the definition of expensive means different things to different people), but what I will tell you is that this New York-based shoe designer does offer her shoes directly to the consumer, with no wholesale markup, which in reality means you can buy more shoes! (See my logic there?)

But wait. Why Sarah Flint?

It’s All in the Details

Sarah Flint shoes are designed by a woman – Sarah Flint – ya mighta guessed that by now. After all, who knows better what a woman needs and wants than another woman? Sarah is the epitome of a boss lady – smart, entrepreneurial, supportive of other women, and driven. She’s also passionate about her product, and it shows in every well-planned detail. Her footwear is chic, comfortable, and while her shoes aren’t cheap, sometimes, you get what you pay for.

In her words: “As a woman, I understand the frustration of buying shoes that end up sitting in your closet. Because of this, I obsess over the details of fit and construction to make the most comfortable and durable shoes, never sacrificing an ounce of style.”

My Andrea Slides were designed with a Crackle metallic leather upper and binding, leather lining and insole, and a leather outsole with full rubber forepart. I took these in one size larger, as they only come in whole sizes. Sarah’s shoes have wider toe boxes, arch support, and every pair is stitched with love in Italy, in the family-owned factory.

When Sarah Flint asked if I wanted to be an ambassador for the brand, I was like, whaaattt? That’s like asking if I want a dirty martini at 5 p.m. on Friday, or if I want to take another trip to Italy. (Yes to both of those, if you haven’t guessed!)

And with investors like Cindy Crawford wearing her shoes, as well as celebs such as Meghan Markle, Kate Hudson, and Karlie Kloss, I just had to give them a try. So try them, I did. And here we are today – tada!

Everyday Luxe in a Boot? Absolutely!

My first pair of Sarah Flint shoes were these pull-on Ellie and Gravati boots pictured above. Made in a buttery vachetta leather, these boots mold to your feet with wear. The comfort level is real. I had so much fun styling them, and I know I will be wearing these beauties year after year. You’d never guess I live in Florida with all the boots I own, but I am a boot fanatic! (I may have mentioned that in a previous post!)

Ada – Elegance and Mommyhood – “What is Everyday Luxe?! It can be interpreted many different ways, I think depending on your lifestyle and your profession, too. In my opinion it’s pieces that are timeless, well-made and classic! Take a pair of leopard flats for example. I have always owned a pair of nice (not cheap) leopard flats. This new Sam Edelman calf-hair pair replaced by White House Black Market ones. I also think every woman needs a nice neutral knit dress and this cable-knit Zara dress is the one. Ditto on a beautiful blazer: go for a black, or another neutral color; think of a classic pattern like herringbone or glen plaid print which are classy and timeless.”

Nicole – High Latitude Style – “For me everyday luxe means that I wear what I love  even when the piece would be considered Sunday’s Best by my Mom’s or Granny’s generation. An example is this teal silk skirt. However, I pair it with typical everyday wear like this cardigan with bold colors abstract huge floral  print that I probably wore more often as a top than cardigan.”
